Shooting at Longueville House Hotel & Sporting Estate 2013/2014
Introduction:
Longueville House, a magnificent old shooting, hunting and fishing estate provides the ultimate Irish country sporting experience. Set in the heart of an historic 500 acre hunting and game estate, it is home to over 200 acres of two hundred year old oak woodlands.  Lines of old oak trees remain that mark the rides where pheasant were fed. Longueville also houses remnants of one of the last remaining duck decoys in Ireland, a prominent feature of the property. Another reason to shoot and stay at Longueville House is because of the kitchen. The food is prepared and cooked by chef/patron William O’Callaghan (an experienced crack shot), who trained in France as well as with Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons. William’s cuisine is complemented with the freshest produce from his two-acre walled kitchen garden, his woodland reared pork and orchard reared lamb and his house cider and apple brandy which he brews and distills on site.
Longueville House Hotel & Sporting Estate offers the following three types of shooting on-site:
(A) Clay Shooting
(B) Simulated Game Shooting
(C) Driven Game Shooting
(A) Clay Shooting:
For a more unique type of corporate entertainment, Longueville House offers year round clay shooting with instruction/tuition for groups and individuals.
Experienced clay shooting enthusiasts should avail of our facilities offering 50 bird stands without instruction to licence holders.
Pricing (Includes Guns, Clays, Cartridges & Insurance):
Individuals: 50 Bird with instruction €70 per gun
50 Bird without instruction €65 Per Gun
Groups:   €300 from 1-4 guns and €70 per gun thereafter.
Season: Available all year round
(B) Simulated Game Shooting (For the experienced shot)
A simulated game shooting day runs in the same way as a driven game shooting day but instead substitutes clay pigeons for game birds. The clays are launched by hidden clay traps and simulate the different quarries such a pheasant, partridge duck, woodcock and so on. Simulated game shooting days are ideally best suited to the experienced guns in groups of 4 to 12. Guns are guaranteed to shoot at thousands of birds throughout the day at a fraction of the cost of an almost identical real game day shoot. Simulated Game shoots are available from February through August.

How the day runs:
At 9.30am the day begins with all the guns meeting at Longueville House where participants will be welcomed with a cup of coffee and meet the other guns. Participants will be introduced to Mr Ian Fish, gun expert, instructor, field sports organiser and the shoot captain on the day who in turn will give a safety brief and carry out a peg draw. The morning will consist of three drives through the 200 acre wooded estate (the entire estate is spread over 500 acres). After a full kit check, all guns will be escorted to the first drive where the guns will be shown to their pegs. The drive is then started and finished by a Hunting Horn. At the end of each drive the guns meet and travel to the next drive which takes place on a different location. After the third drive the guns meet with lunch commencing at 1pm (approx) and in good weather, guns enjoy a delicious picnic served with a home brew beverage outdoors. In wet weather guns meet back at Longueville House instead for a light shoot lunch with beverage. For day long events, shooting will recommence for the afternoon when lunch is finished and will include two more drives.
