Longueville House sits in the heart of The Blackwater Valley which is steeped in the Equine tradition. Fortunately Longueville House is surrounded by several superior hunt packs, the nearest one being The Duhallows. Established 1745, it is the oldest pack of foxhounds in Ireland. The Barony of Duhallow hunt country covers 30 miles north to south by 36 miles east to west in County Cork.
The Duhallow country is renowned to be some of the most challenging in Ireland.
In the western hunt area consists of huge hairy banks with wide ditches on either side, often proving a true test of the horse and jockey’s jumping ability. The going can be heavy therefore stamina and speed are essential qualities if one is to stay with the hounds. In the south and eastern hunt areas the land is drier with mostly high narrow single banks.
The Duhallow hunt club has 50 couple of pure bred Old English hounds and hunts three days a week, Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays. The kennels are based near Liscarroll deep in the heart of the hunting countryside.
Many local children occasionally hunt on Saturday, so chosen hunting locations are generally less challenging then.
Longueville House welcomes many Hunts People annually, and will be delighted to make the necessary arrangements for your hunting Holiday.
We offer early breakfast on request, valet service for hunting attire and storage of riding equipment.
Later a roaring log fire in our drawing room is the ideal place to relax and unwind after a long days hunting. William's delicious food cooked the old fashioned way awaits in a warm relaxed atmosphere.
